IPBES Meeting - 21 April/2

The discussions at the plenary meeting is at a critical moment. The links to the UN is on the table where many countries (Africa, South America) wants a strong link while others do not, and only wants to "explore links" to the UN system. If there is a solution to this disagreement there is also a major discussion on how decisions would be taken. Here some countries calls for consensus in all "matters of substance" which means that an individual country could veto whatever they happen to dislike or think is too sensitive.
