The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is slowly
taking shape. A first session of a plenary meeting aiming to operationalize IPBES was held in Nairobi in October 2011. The task is to set
up IPBES so that it becomes an important process, linking best available
knowledge to political processes forming conservation policy. SCB as a leading

This year we are electing a new "President Elect" that will take office on the 1st January 2009. The President Elect serves three years at the BoD, and then becomes President of the Section for another three years. The meeting took place at the Polish Academy of Sciences. Actually, several meetings took place. First of all a preparatory meeting of the 2nd European Congress of Conservation Biology, ECCB 2009.
